An account migration users choose to do
Copy that encourages people to move to a new sign-in on their own, before they have to.
Context
Part of a larger effort to build a unified experience: users sign in once and move freely between digital products. Many users had several accounts, and at the same time the database storing sign-in credentials was being replaced.
As a result, users needed to migrate to an email-based account and, if they had more than one, link their other accounts to the one they had migrated.
Problem
Eventually every user would be moved to the new database. A forced migration could cause a lot of stress and confusion. How do we avoid that?
Approach
Encourage users to migrate on their own, by showing them information that makes the change worth it.
What I did
- Mapped the process and drafted the first copy.
- Went to senior stakeholders for in-depth information about the real benefits the migration would bring users.
- Worked iteratively with the designer, writing the copy directly in the Figma wireframes.
- After handoff to development, checked that the text was implemented correctly and sent for translation.
The work

Result
Friendly, easy-to-understand messaging that invites users to migrate on their own.
What I’d do differently
For this text – nothing. For the project – I would test the copy with users.
“Ewa consistently demonstrated her ability to put herself in the shoes of the user, and she was able to create content that was both easy to understand and highly effective.”
